Colombia Coldeportes' climbers discovering Punta Veleno peak

On Monday, January 30th the team led by general manager Claudio Corti will test the hard climb where 36th Giro del Trentino's stage3 will finish

Having 36th Giro del Trentino's course been unveiled by now, time has come for early tests looking forward the scheduled challenge on April 17th-20th. It’s Team Colombia Coldeportes turn discovering Italian four-day stage race’s main difficulties since the Colombian (but Italy-based) professional team led by General Manager Claudio Corti will carry out the seasonal training camp on Trentino’s roads from January 27th to February 3rd.

Colombia-Coldeportes team is one of 2012 campaign most interesting novelties, with their strong heritage by outstanding  climbers who wrote cycling history’s important pages in the 80’s and following.

Colombia Coldeportes' training camp will take place in Torbole sul Garda giving the riders many opportunities to uphill all around the Garda area, including Punta Veleno, the "poisoning sting" in Brenzone, unknown and hard climb where 36th Giro del Trentino's stage3 will finish. Colombian riders will discover Punta Veleno next  Monday, January 30th. They will meet up at 11.30 am at Castelletto di Brenzone, at the foot of the mountain, moving from there up to the peak in around 45 minutes, reaching the top at about 12.15.

Since its early ramps, the 8,5-climb is a frightening one. From Zignano to Malga Zovel the gradient comes close to 15%. Riders will give themselves a breathing space just after six kilometers of really demanding ascent.

Valerio Tebaldi, Colombia Coldeportes' directeur sportif, underlines the importance of this inspection: "Our riders are used to climb, but Punta Veleno is really unusual for everybody and doubly challenging in view of the Giro del Trentino next April. We're curious to know the riders' feeling when they’ll have topped the hill”, Tebaldi argued. Former and current champions from Trentino region, like Alessandro Bertolini, Gilberto Simoni, Francesco Moser, Daniel Oss and Moreno Moser, announced they’ll join Colombian riders and share such heavy test with them.

Punta Veleno is one of the two queen-stages of 36th Giro del Trentino, day after the race conclusion to happen on the top of legendary Passo Pordoi.
