2012 Giro, Sant’Orsola’s stage announced during a mass!
The second stage of 36th edition has been announced during a mass by don Daniele Laghi, spiritual Father of the race
2012 Giro del Trentino begins to take shape. One of the most beautiful and sought races of the international calendar, recently awarded 2.HC status by the UCI and gratified by a high-class starting list this year, is now in progress towards a 36th edition (scheduled on April 17th-20th, 2012) looking very promising. GS Alto Garda organizers are working hard for giving their race, as usual, new claims of interest and strong technical contents.
The first novelty is an intriguing second stage, to be run on April, 18th through the Mocheny Valley, a place one of its kind both culturally and geographically, well known as "Enchanted valley" and marked by a linguistic minority and a uncontaminated landscape. The finish-line will be drawn in Sant'Orsola, but the race will pass through Canezza, Frassilongo, Fierozzo and Palù del Fersina. The day after, the start will be given at Sant'Orsola's small-fruits cooperative’s headquarter, a strong economic reality of the valley.
The stage has been unusually announced by Daniele Laghi, Giro del Trentino's spiritual Father, at the end of a celebrative Holy Mass in Sant'Orsola. The news filled with enthusiasm all the valley's community. "It will be a medium-difficulty stage, the appetizer before the two harder ones, but it will be surely amazing. We hope this new location will be a nice discovery for the Giro del Trentino and the cycling fans", GS Alto Garda's secretary Nerino Ioppi explained.
Townships, local associations, Valley community, Cassa Rurale di Pergine and Sant'Orsola Cooperative are partners of the event.
