Garda’s time-trial to open 2010 Giro del Trentino
From 2/17/10
Riva del Garda-Torbole individual time-trial will open the 34th edition of the Giro del Trentino, on Tuesday April 20. Following last year’s success, race organizer GS Alto Garda-Arco confirmed the first stage along Lake Garda thanks to the proud support of the local authorities. Even Bayern Monaco football team set their summer training camp, in July, in the vicinity of the Garda lake.
2010 Giro del Trentino’s first stage is completely flat and smooth, with some curves to break the rider’s pace. But the main difficulty of the race will be the wind that could disturb the chase to the first leader’s jersey.
Astana’s German Andreas Kloeden took the first-stage win in 2009, and this year it will be up to another rider from the Kazakh team, Alexandre Vinokourov, to compete for the leadership. Also Italian Franco Pellizotti and 2009 overall winner Ivan Basso are thought to be main contenders for the final success.
Miche’s Dane Michael Rasmussen has recently confirmed his participation to the Giro del Trentino, that he considers one of the main objectives of the whole season.
