Gilberto Simoni to ride his last Giro del Trentino 2010
Race favourites will attend the pre-race press conference in Arco (Trento), on Monday April 19
From 4/17/10With only a few days to the start of the 34th Giro del Trentino on Tuesday April 20th, GS Alto Garda-Arco race organizers are working hard to firm up all the details of the event.
Following last year’s success, a pre-race press conference will be held in the enchanting “Sala Consiliare” hall of the Casinò Municipale in Arco (Trento), on Monday 19 at 3.30 pm.
Reigning champion Ivan Basso and team mate Franco Pellizotti will attend the press conference jointly with Stefano Garzelli and Settimana Lombarda’s recent winner Michele Scarponi. Garzelli will be given a special aero-helmet decorated by Italian well-known artist Cornelio Perini. Also returning Riccardo Riccò, who recently took two solid wins at the Settimana Lombarda stage-race, will participate in the press conference.
Local hero Gilberto Simoni is expected to meet the press in Arco. Two-time Giro d’Italia’s winner has signed a short-term contract with Lampre-Farnese on Friday as he wants to ride for the last time “his” Giro del Trentino on home soil, before ending his long career at the Giro d’Italia.
GS Alto Garda-Arco President Giacomo Santini together with race organizer Nerino Ioppi will introduce the press conference with Trento Tourism Councillor Tiziano Mellarini as special guest.
Italian Tv Broadcaster RaiSport confirmed a 30-minute delayed coverage of each stage with a very high-level team of commentators.
