Scarponi and Petacchi added to start list

Monday April 12 in Trento. Moser, Fondriest, Simoni and youngster Daniel Oss are expected to attend the event

Giro del Trentino (April 20-23) will be officially launched to the press and public on Monday April 12 in Trento, North-Eastern Italy, at 11.30 am. The ceremony will be held into the prestigious hall “Don Guetti” kindly offered by Casse Rurali Trentine local bank, one of the event’s main sponsor.
 

GS Alto Garda-Arco’s President Giacomo Santini, together with Lina and Nerino Ioppi, will unveil the race courses of a truly demanding 34th Giro del Trentino which will take the peloton through some of the most exciting beauties of Trentino.
 

Alongside local authorities, World Champions Francesco Moser and Maurizio Fondriest will leave their comments about the main features of the four stages, jointly with former professional cyclist Mariano Piccoli and two-time Giro d'Italia winner Gilberto Simoni. Also youngsters Cesare Benedetti and Daniel Oss will attend the presentation. Liquigas-Doimo’s strong athlete, who recently performed impressively in the North, will reach Trento following his participation at the Paris-Roubaix on Sunday.
 
Looking forward to Monday’s ceremony, race organizers announced new important names in the start list. Settimana Lombarda stage-race’s winner Michele Scarponi (Androni-Diquigiovanni) will be on the starting line in Riva del Garda, on Tuesday 20. He will be definitely one of the fearsome competitors on the mountainous stages alongside with team mates Jackson Rodriguez and Carlos Ochoa.
 
Lampre-Farnese will line-up Alessandro Petacchi as the Italian sprinter could have a go at a win in Trento at the end of the third smooth stage.
 

Starting from Monday 12, Giro del Trentino’s new official website will be on-line: www.girodeltrentino.com. It is a completely new one with enhanced multimedia contents and constant updates to keep cycling enthusiasts and media representatives always up-to-date.
